How can I contact you to schedule an appointment?

4

New patients can contact us to schedule an appointment by calling our office at 253-271-0839 or sending an email to info@caringmindsllc.net. You can also request to book using this link Appointments. Please note the process outlined in Question #2 for more information.

For existing patients, the portal is the preferred method for appointment requests, medication refills, and secure messaging. We typically respond within 24-72 hours. You may also leave a voicemail, and in some cases, we may respond via text using the Klara app.

How long do appointments last?

5

The first appointment for new patients is called a psychiatric evaluation and is scheduled for 90 minutes for adolescents and 60 minutes for adults. Another 60-minute appointment may be scheduled to continue the evaluation process, especially if there’s a complicated psychiatric history. If you are an adolescent, at least one parent/caregiver needs to be present during part of the intake appointment to gather collateral information and discuss medication options and safety planning together.

Medication management follow up visits are scheduled for 30 minutes every 4 weeks and then 6-8 weeks thereafter or as agreed upon, depending on the client’s treatment progress.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

6

We prescribe stimulant medications for ADHD only if there is a completed ADHD evaluation by a psychiatrist or a psychologist within the past 5–10 years for adults; or if a diagnosis was made during childhood (ages 5–18) and a copy of the evaluation report is provided. In some cases, providers may conduct their own ADHD assessment, which typically takes 5–6 visits or longer. Please note that there are out-of-pocket costs for testing and report preparation.

Benzodiazepines may be prescribed on a limited, short-term basis (up to 3 months) and only for severe anxiety or panic attacks.

Do you offer urgent visits/ emergency / crisis services?

7

We DO NOT PROVIDE ON-CALL CRISIS SERVICES. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY: please call 911, 988 (mental health crisis), or go to the nearest emergency room.

We DO NOT provide urgent visits for new patients. Existing patients may request urgent medication management visits but is subject to availability.
